MEMBERSHIP SURVEY

We are conducting a broad survey of all members and friends of the Unitarian Universalist Congregational Society of Westborough. Our goal is to learn more about all of you so that we can better serve you and the community at large. We are asking every member and friend to please take just a few minutes to complete this survey. The survey can be filled out online or in paper form at church after services.

WORSHIP SCHEDULE

Traditional services are held every Sunday at 10:30 a.m. from the Sunday after Labor Day through mid-June.

February 7, 2010  (Membership Sunday)

Flinging Stars, Sowing Hope

Today is a celebration of our membership.  For our service theme we will reflect upon Loren Eisley’s true story about the Star Thrower.  It has many wonderful layers:  humanity’s relationship with nature, our relationship with each other, the persistence of life in the midst of death, ethical/spiritual teachings….Come and join us for a thought-provoking morning and a celebration of our community.  Our special music will be provided by Treblesome women’s accapella group directed by our very own Sally Jeffery.

This is a sanctuary start for the children.

Darwin and the Evolutionary Concept of God

As we celebrate the 201st birthday of Charles Darwin, the father of evolutionary biology, let us consider how his discoveries have impacted human concepts of God.  Is God dead in Darwin’s world?  Or have scientific revelations inspired more expansive notions of our Creative Source?  A very provocative Sunday to be in the pews.

This is a Worship Circle start for the children.

Faith Q-Sort Survey

Please join us for this service at which David Wulff, Ph.D, Professor of Psychology at Wheaton College will be our guest speaker. He designed the Faith Q-Sort survey which many of us have completed recently.  He will speak generally about the survey, but his primary focus will be on the collective UUCSW congregational results of the Faith Q-Sort surveys completed by many in the UUCSW congregation. Many of us found the survey fascinating. Come hear if our congregation is similar or disparate in our view of the role of faith in our lives. Dr Wulff will also discuss how our congregation compares to other types of religious communities.

One Woman’s Voice on the Cusp of a Changing World

This being the bicentenary of Unitarian activist Margaret Fuller, we will take a look at an unprecedented time in our collective history and lift-up the voice of one woman who influenced profound social change at a time when women were denied many basic human rights.  Can her courage, words and deeds speak to us today?

This is a Worship Circle start for the children.
